Progress not Perfection!!

Evening! i had this whole push up plan worked out and then i weighed myself and turns out i was a good 7kg (pretty much a stone) heavier than i thought i was 😦 that was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. the good news is that i have successfully stayed off the coca cola and have heavily reduced my chocolate intake! i found my notebook from last year which has a good all round gym workout in it, i had taken measurements of my stomach, waist, arms, thighs and calves and i had gained about an inch overall, just 3 weeks after stopping the sugary drinks and unhealthy lunches and ive now lost around 2kg (4.5lb) and almost 2 inches from my stomach! my concern is im going to plateau soon, so im decided to double down on the exercise.

i bought one of those daft electric scooters and have managed to hurt my calf -_- i was trying to avoid a pedestrian and strained it, so my go to cardio of stair machine, cross trainer and treadmill are out for another few days, i plan on hitting the gym early tomorrow and getting a good upper body workout in though! i have 2 upper body workouts, divided into push muscles and pull muscles. tomorrow i will do the push exercises whcih are

Plated chest incline (10rep warm up), then single arm 10 rep each x2, then on the third set go straight into double arm to failure

Seated pectoral (10rep warm up) , then 3x 10 rep, holding for 2 seconds on each rep and then 10 seconds on 10th rep

Lateral raise with dumbell, choosing 3 weights, say 3kg,4kg,5kg 10 rep warm up on 3kg then doing 10 reps on 5kg, immediately going to 4kg, then immediately down to 3kg

Barbell shoulder raise 10 rep x3 sets

tricep rope pull down similar to lateral raise, titrating up in weight, 10 reps until failure and then titrating back down again

tricep bar pull down, same as above

this should take around 45mins, get the heart rate going! i like the order as it starts with the upper arm and back and moves down the muscle groups in the arms giving each one a good workout. i also know its a tricep pull down but its more of a pushing motion, the cable rope curl is in the pull day :/

Wish me luck 🙂

Busy Days (a chance for a small win)

As you may know im a dog walker, i run my own business and i love what i do! Before i was a dog walker i worked in pharmacy as a dispenseing assistant (basically assembling the prescriptions for the pharmacist to check, ordering stock etc, the girls you see running around doing a million things at once!) i actually really enjoyed this and worked full time for 8 years, but i got tired and needed a wee change. Dog walking was something id looked into before i found my dispensing job so it felt right to try this. i was lucky enough to work for a large company (rhymes with hoots…) who transferred me to a store with late nights, 18months of dog walking 9-4.30 and pharmacy from 5.45-9.15 and i was wrecked! i had managed to grow my business though and in october i was able to leave boots! i had free time, i joined a gym, was getting excited about running and swimming! my fitness was finally taking a front seat to my life and i was excited to see how much progress i could make.

Enter Covid-19. i lost around 2/3rds of business (people who werent key workers now furloughed at home with their dogs…) so i asked for some hours back in the pharmacy to keep me going, being the wee stars they are (and because some people needed furloughed due to health) i got a few night shifts back. 3 months later and i just agreed to stay on until the end of august (yay money!).

Today however, was the first day i had a full day of walks, 28,000 steps and a shift in the pharmacy later and my knees, feet, quads, hamstrings etc are all aching. i honestly dont know how i managed to work for so long in the pharmacy originally! But i have a clear end date in sight, im down to 2 shifts a week, the gyms will be opening soon and i am feeling optimistic about my weight loss journey. i refuse to push myself to the point that i hate everything about exercise, i got pulled about today by some of the dogs and my legs are tired so i wont guilt myself into doing late night exercise, ive done enough! i will however vow to do some stair push ups in the morning before my first walk to see where abouts im at. im hoping to start 4 steps up, 3 sets of 10 and once thats comfortable move down a step etc until i can do 10 proper push ups!

Small manageable goals means i can celebrate small victories! Todays victory was getting a full days dog walking done, hopefully tomorrows will be some push ups

Current State 😭🤣🐶

So I’ve decided it’s time to get fit! Currently as a dog walker I have some fitness, I can sometimes be walking 25000 steps a day but run around after the dogs and I am wrecked! I am also aware that I need to start slow, be realistic, have achievable targets 😎 At the moment I can do a total of ZERO push ups! (yay me) I’m gonna be aiming for 10 push ups, I’ll start by doing push ups on the stairs, this should (🤞) build better form and strength before I attempt a proper push up! I will update you guys with how it goes 😅💪 #JustStrong #JustStrongClothing
